WHY TEAMABILITY?
"Why are we not making sign language or Signalong, as we use, compulsory in schools? We can come in and in a 45 minute session children will leave knowing how to sign hello, good morning, goodbye, how to sign "my name is", how to sign their name, how to sign the whole alphabet, they learn a song in sign along and then they can go home and tell their families about it! I wish I had something like that when I was at school!
For businesses, we offer a wildly eye
opening experience in a really cool way, you’re never too old to learn! Whether its team building activities, inclusivity
awareness sessions or CPD, we've got you covered."
"I worked in schools as a 1:1 TA and a class TA for 8 years and in my first year of being in that educational environment I met Benjamin. And since then, 10 years on, I’ve only ever met one “Benjamin” in a mainstream school. A little boy, in nursery, in a wheelchair,
registered blind, with epilepsy, with a profound disability, and I remember so vividly the impact his presence had on the children around him. I’ve never seen that again.
I also can’t recall a time, where I’ve been in school environment and there’s been a significant amount of time dedicated to learning about people with disabilities, even from when I was a child at school, we had the odd mandatory assembly or writing task, but nothing powerful enough to really stick with me. Teachers have so much to do, an endless list, and knowing that we can come in and completely alleviate that stress from them, around a topic that’s quite
difficult at times to discuss, is huge."

Why Teamability?
Before becoming a full-time carer, I was a PE teacher — a role I absolutely loved. Like many parent carers, I had to step away from my career to meet my child’s needs. This experience made me realise how important it is for workplaces to be more compassionate and flexible to better support carers.
No one can truly understand what it feels like to live with a disability, to become a young carer, or to navigate life as a
parent carer — unless they’ve lived it. But we can all learn to listen better, to grow in empathy, and to gain a deeper understanding of each other’s experiences; And that’s exactly what Teamability is here to do.
Our mission is simple: to create a more compassionate, connected, and understanding world — one where everyone belongs because inclusion isn't optional - its essential.
I’m a parent carer to a child with profound disabilities and therefore Teamability for me is a project born from personal experience, deep love, and a desire to drive change. I’m a proud mum of three amazing boys. My youngest son Benjamin has complex needs and uses a wheelchair, and his two older brothers are incredible young carers, who inspire me everyday and who quietly shoulder responsibilities beyond their years. They’ve grown up navigating a world that often overlooks or misunderstands families like ours.
When Benjamin was younger, his disability wasn't evident; however as he has grown being able to access our society has become more difficult.
This is what has pushed me to start Teamability - the constant sense of exclusion, not just for Benjamin, but for our whole family. Too often it is not my son's disability that holds him back, but the way the world responds to it.
Benjamin attended mainstream nursery, Reception, and Year 1 as he didn't get a place at our local Special School— looking back, this was the best thing that could of happened. Not only did he benefit enormously from being part of that environment, but he also taught the teachers and children so much. This experience showed me first-hand the incredible value of inclusion, as well as the challenges that come with navigating both mainstream and specialist education. Benjamin wasn't seen as a little boy who has Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and is Blind, he was simply seen as Benjamin - a little boy who despite his difficulties could still offer so much to the environment he was in.
