PREFECT
CHALLENGE
Our unique and innovative Prefect Challenge is designed exclusively for schools as a development tool for newly appointed and existing prefects. Often young people are appointed to be prefects because of popularity and/or achievement, both academic and sporting.
But do these criteria automatically equip them with the skills they need to carry out their sometimes onerous duties effectively and successfully?
They are chosen often because they have shown potential, but is that potential ever fully realized during their final two years at school?
We find this age group to be hugely receptive, flexible and open-minded. They always feedback that they had a lot of fun during the challenge whilst learning more about themselves, and how to be a more effective prefect.
Our Prefect Challenge is a flexible development programme which can be run at any time to suit your school, lasting approx. 9 hours.
Ideally we begin with a 2 hour session where we look at some basic communication and leadership theory and relate it to situations at school. Brainstorming the qualities of an effective prefect, and discussing some of the difficult situations faced and how to deal with them, concludes this session.
The following day, teams of between 5 and 10 are given a role play simulation to work on involving a series of challenges, mainly outdoors and culminating in presentations to the other teams (and to the school Head!)
Any number of prefects can be worked with, but optimum numbers are about 20, split into 2 teams for the 'challenge' day.
Our Prefect Challenge can be held on your premises or nearby, and at any time of the year. Although the format is an established and successful one, the programme can be adapted to suit your needs. We are always flexible!
